Let us always remember those who contribute to plastics

In the 15th century, the Maya of the Americas used natural rubber as a container, rain gear and other daily necessities.
1839 American Charles Goodyear discovered that natural rubber and sulphur co-heated significantly changed its properties, making it from the impractical nature of lower hardness, hot and sticky softening, and cold and brittle fracture. It is a material that is elastic and malleable.
1869 John Wesley Hyatt (1837-1920) co-heated a mixture of nitrocellulose, camphor and ethanol under high pressure to produce the first synthetic plastic "cellulose".
1887 Count Hilaire de Chardonnet was spun with a solution of nitrocellulose to produce the first rayon.
1909 American Leo Baekeland reacts with phenol to form the first fully synthetic plastic, phenolic resin.
1920 Hermann Staudinger published a paper on "Uber Polymerization" which states that high molecular substances are chemically reacted (polymerized) by monomers having the same chemical structure and are connected by chemical bonds. The term molecular compound, polymer or polymer is derived from this.
1926 The Swedish chemist Svidberg et al. designed an ultracentrifuge to measure the molecular weight of a protein: it proved that the molecular weight of a polymer is indeed from tens of thousands to millions.
1926 American chemist Waldo Semon synthesized polyvinyl chloride and industrialized it in 1927.
1930 Polystyrene (PS) invention.
1932 Hermann Staudinger summed up his theory of macromolecules and published the epoch-making masterpiece "Polymer Organic Compounds" as a symbol of polymer chemistry as a new discipline.
1935 Wallace H. Carothers (1896-1937) of the Department of Organic Chemistry at DuPont's Institute of Basic Chemistry synthesized polyamide 66, or nylon. Nylon was industrialized in 1938.
1930 The Germans used sodium metal as a catalyst to synthesize butadiene rubber and styrene-butadiene rubber from butadiene.
1940 British gentleman (TRWhinfield, 1901-1966) synthesized polyester fiber (PET).
1940s Peter Debye invented a method for determining the molecular weight of a polymeric substance by light scattering.
1948 Paul Flory established the mathematical theory of long-chain structures in polymers.
1950s The German Karl Ziegler and the Italian Giulio Natta used a metal complex catalyst to synthesize polyethylene and polypropylene.
1955 Americans use the Ziegler-Natta catalyst to polymerize isoprene, and for the first time artificially synthesize synthetic natural rubber of the same structure as natural rubber.
1971 SL Wolek invents Kevlar, which is resistant to high temperatures of 300oC.
