Previously, Greenpeace had detected residual perfluorinated compounds on numerous inspections of outdoor products. The air inspection in the outdoor product store confirmed that the concentration of perfluorinated compounds in such stores is much higher than the average indoor average. The concentration of PFCs in the air of three outdoor stores in Taiwan ranges from 53 to 148 ng/m3. However, the concentration of indoor air in other stores ranges from 2 to 28 ng/m3, which translates to a PFC concentration of 74 times that of general indoor stores.
Greenpeace appeals that outdoor brands should eliminate PFCs and other toxic and hazardous chemicals as soon as possible. At present, international brands such as The North Face, Patagonia, Salewa and Mammut have not completely banned perfluorinated compounds.
