The latest domestic standards for infant textiles

The quality of baby and infant supplies has always been the focus of attention. As one of the daily supplies for infants and young children, the quality of textiles has also attracted the attention and attention of related textile manufacturers and consumers. We will now briefly introduce China's textile-related standards.

1. GB 18401-2003 "National Safety Technical Code for Textile Products"

This standard is a national mandatory standard that specifies the basic safety technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, etc. of textile products.

Infant and baby products (textiles used by infants and young children under the age of 24 months, which are generally suitable for products used by infants and children under 80cm in height and can be used as baby products) should comply with the technical requirements of Class A products in the standard. Infants and young children must use the standard “baby and infant supplies” on the instructions. Test items include: color fastness to water, color fastness to perspiration, color fastness to dry rubbing, color fastness to saliva, formaldehyde content, pH, odor, decomposable aromatic amine dyes. Compared with other types of product testing items, this type of product has increased color fastness to saliva.

2. FZ/T 73025-2006 "Infants and childrens knitwear"

This standard stipulates terms and definitions, specifications, requirements, test methods, determination rules, product instructions, packaging, transportation, and storage of infant knitted apparel products.

Applicable to the testing of knitted fabrics made of baby knitted apparel products, including underwear (sets), coats, pajamas, jumpsuits, socks, feet, hats, bibs, belly Wai, gloves, sleeping bags, towels, bed Supplies and so on.

Among them, the age limit is different from the one defined in GB 18401-2003 "National Safety Technical Code for Textile Products". It is used for infants and young children within 36 months or 104 cm in height.

In the standard, the internal quality requirements are divided into excellent products and first grade products. The technical requirements for Class A products in GB 18401-2003 only meet the quality requirements for some items of the first-class products in this standard. Therefore, the quality of the products must be superior, and the quality of textiles needs further improvement.

3. FZ/T 81014-2008 "Infants and toddlers clothing"

The standard has its own specificity. The standard itself is the recommended standard, but the standard 4.1 (The instructions for use of the finished product shall comply with the provisions of GB 5296.4 and GB 18401, indicate on the product label that dry cleaning is not possible), 4.11 (formaldehyde content, pH, odor, decomposable aromatic amine dyes, extractable heavy metal content, and color fastness to dry rubbing, color fastness, perspiration fastness, and saliva fastness are all mandatory requirements). Compared with the testing items of GB 18401, this standard will increase the content of extractable heavy metals to mandatory test items.

The standard stipulates the terms and definitions of infant apparel products, number specifications, requirements, inspection (test) methods, inspection classification rules, and signs, packaging, transportation and storage.

It is suitable for baby clothing and kits made from textile fabrics as the main raw material. Infant and child clothing products can refer to this standard. This standard is used as a supplement to woven products in textiles for infants and young children, and it is used in conjunction with FZ/T 73025-2006 "Kids & Apparel Knitwear" to basically cover all infant and toddler textiles for daily use.

In addition, infants and young children's textiles should also comply with the basic principles, labeling, and labeling requirements of the instructions for use in GB 5296.4-1998 "Consumer Instructions for Use Textiles and Garments", as well as FZ/T 01053-2007 "Identification of Textile Fiber Content". Fiber labeling requirements, labeling principles, presentation methods, tolerances, and label conformity determination.

In recent years, the intensity of textile monitoring has been strengthened year by year, but the relevant data disclosed is still not optimistic. We sincerely hope to strengthen supervision and make enterprises pay attention to the growth of infants and young children while paying attention to profit growth. To care about the next generation is to care about our future.
