Net cotton contract of 87,000 tons in China this year accounted for 103%

According to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), the United States signed a net export of 83,939 tons of upland cotton for the current year from 10.14 to 10.20 a week, 6.2 times the previous week; and 17,032 tons of shipments (a 5% increase from the previous week and a 3% decrease from the average of the last four weeks); It contracted 204 tons of Pima cotton this year and shipped 23 tons.

During the week, China signed a net contract of 89,970 tons of land cotton (90,968 tons newly signed and 998 tons canceled), which accounted for 103% of the total US land-use cotton contract, 4309 tons of shipments, and 91 tons of Pima cotton.

The countries and territories that signed the largest number of upland cottons this week were: China (89970 tons), Turkey (2585 tons), and Taiwan, China (1247 tons); countries with net negative signings were: Mexico (-3697 tons) and Vietnam ( -2200 tons), Thailand (-1247 tons) and Korea (-295 tons).

The countries and regions with the highest land cotton shipments this week were: Mexico (5012 tons), China (4309 tons), Vietnam (2994 tons), and Indonesia (907 tons).

During the week, the countries that have “optionally contracted” (signing US cotton first, and later selecting cotton from other origins) have Vietnam (1,497 tons) and China (998 tons).

The countries and regions that signed the most Pima cotton this week were: China (91 tons) and Turkey (68 tons); the net signing of unknown areas was negative (-45 tons).

During the current week Pima cotton was mainly shipped from Turkey (23 tons).
